DNS: ZPG turbulent boundary layer

We have also performed DNSs of a zero-pressure-gradient (ZPG) turbulent boundary layer (TBL). The latter data are used as the inlet and comparison data for DNSs of a turbulent separation bubble and a skewed turbulent boundary layer. In the DNS, the rescaling-recycling method (Lund et al. 1998) has been used for generating an inlet condition of the simulation. The wall-normal velocity is prescribed at the upper boundary. The periodic boundary condition is used in the spanwise (z) direction, whereas the no-slip boundary condition is used at the wall (y=0). More details are given in the below two references.

  • In the DNSs, statistics have been obtained with maximal caution on the accuracy and convergence. Users however should remind that their accuracy is within a certain limit imposed by the grid resolution and numerical scheme employed. The database may be updated without any notification.
