DNS: Turbulent channel flow

A series of direct numerical simulations (DNSs) have been performed in a turbulent channel flow with / without passive scalar transport over a range of Reynolds and Prandtl numbers. Particular attention is given to the effects of Reynolds and Prandtl numbers. The present flow is a fully developed turbulent channel flow, which is driven by a streamwise mean pressure gradient. The flow is heated with a constant time-averaged heat flux (qw) from both walls. The periodic boundary condition is used in the streamwise (x) and spanwise (z) directions. The no-slip condition is imposed at both the top (y=2h) and bottom (y=0) walls. More details are given in the below references.

  • In the DNSs, statistics have been obtained with maximal caution on the accuracy and convergence. Users however should remind that their accuracy is within a certain limit imposed by the grid resolution and numerical scheme employed. The database may be updated without any notification.
